Skillbuilding Studio Intensives - Small Group Sessions

from $210.00

Rates vary based on number of participants, and are designed for 3-4 people who register as a self-organized group.

3 Participants - 90 minutes - $210 ($70/person)
4 Participants - 120 minutes - $240 ($60/person)

These 90-minute and 2-hour sessions are scheduled upon request.

You are responsible for organizing your own group - these classes are for self-organized groups of 3-4 people, not for individuals. Please do not register if you do not already have 2-3 other friends who are keen to join you!

Please contact me for availability, or to talk about options for joining a pre-existing small group.

Small-group studio intensives are geared toward people with prior drawing experience who are keen to deepen (or jumpstart) their practice. Each personalized session includes demonstrations and targeted problem-solving to bring more volume, depth, movement, and expression to your drawings in wet or dry media. I offer practical advice in the spirit of helping you draw with greater skill, satisfaction, and pleasure.

Every session includes both general and customized demonstrations to address issues on the page, including techniques to maximize value, create visual depth, diversify color, handle materials, or enhance your composition. While everyone encounters specific challenges within a drawing, problems are often common, with reliable solutions.

We start with a pre-class check-in as to what you personally want assistance with, then we’ll trouble-shoot each person’s drawing in turn, working through different techniques and approaches. We end with a short conversation about what was accomplished and what lies ahead. Because of the small size of the group, each person has ample time dedicated to addressing your specific questions. When we’re not discussing your work directly, you’re watching, experimenting, refining your technique, contributing your insight, and developing your drawings in progress. I demonstrate all techniques live on camera, and discuss additional resources as we go.

These interactive online workshops are presented via Zoom, and best experienced on a laptop or computer monitor with a large screen and webcam. Please download the free Zoom app on to your computer (www.zoom.us) prior to your first class. Payment is through the link below, PayPal, or personal check (please email me if paying by check). While not necessary, it’s helpful to have a second webcam that you can set up to allow for easier sharing and viewing of your artwork.

This is an opportunity to immerse in drawing, receive targeted feedback and concrete suggestions on works in progress, and advance your creative practice in a supportive environment using a range of materials.
